Maritime Division Transformation
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Gary Rogan

The Maritime Division at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is transforming, and the traditional mission is being gradually broadened to encompass, fuse and blend hydrographic geospatial information with imagery. This change is predicated upon the need to provide our customers with the hydrographic knowledge foundation for planning, decision-making and action. Safety issues and hydrographic foundation data will remain core functions, and maritime geospatial intelligence and expanded production of littoral data will begin to take on increased relevance. The paper will discuss the maritime vision for transformation, history and legacy systems and new initiatives that will move the division closer to a data centric business environment.
