Track: GIS Organization, Management and Implementation
Author(s): Durmus Cesur

The enterprise GIS is mainly formed by enterprise GIS database, web services, associated standards, applications, and other components. The implementation includes capturing the workflows, spatial data/metadata need/requirements, within the department together with the interdepartmental interacting associated workflows, business processes, and data. Therefore, the enterprise system implementation in an organization requires cross-users, interdepartmental communication and collaboration. The interactions and associations also include data, functionalities, applications and other issues. Pilot scale implementations facilitate in identification, capture and resolution of these issues, and assist in establishing the data models, standards, guides and other tools for the cost and labor efficient and streamlined full-scale implementation. In this paper, the use and the importance of enterprise GIS pilot scale implementations will be exemplified together with the issues observed during pilot scale GIS implementation for Real Estate Department of San Antonio River Authority.
