Abstract
 Best Practices and Process Improvement of IFSAR DEM Production Track: Cartography and Map Production Author(s): Jessie Yan Intermap is working its way into the second year of a multiyear project to produce digital elevation model at 5 m posting for the entire continental USA. The substantial amount of data to be processed proved and shipped each day pose tremendous challenge for both operation and management. Intermap is constantly optimizing its work process to maximize throughput and efficiency. This paper will focus on best practice criteria and process automation during interactive 3D editing and value added vector extraction practices, which are the most critical and time consuming phases in the entire workflow. A complicated toolset in stream network checking, data finishing, data management and quality control will be discussed. This toolset is currently being expanded into a larger enterprise wide production control system in which one of the functions is to use selected public data in predictive analytics to assist in knowledge-based decision making, scheduling, planning and management.
