Abstract
Municipal Enterprise GIS: Oakville, Ontario, Canada Track: GIS Organization, Management and Implementation Author(s): Steve Czajka This paper will describe the new enterprise GIS at Oakville, Ontario, Canada. This technology is based on the ArcGIS 8 architecture and consists of various products that assist our municipality in many different business areas. This paper will describe the various products and the experiences encountered during the migration from ARC/INFO 7/ArcView 3.2 to ArcGIS 8. A focus will be given to our approach to editing GIS layers in which our end user departments are responsible for their own layers of data while GIS Services is dedicated to providing all base mapping data.
