Abstract
Improving Mine Planning with a GIS-Based Solution Track: Mining and Geosciences Author(s): Rubens Mendonca, Reginaldo Portes This paper will present the tool GEOMOD, an extension module of ArcGIS, developed specifically to integrate and deal with different types of documents related to the mine planning activities, such as block models and mining plans. In order to access, visualize, and search the information stored in block models or mining plan maps, several customized solutions were created and added to the GIS software. Some benefits achieved after the implementation of this tool include the organization of all existing data, information, and documents in a logical structure; improvement of data access; and the possibility of accessing and interacting with several types of documents without necessarily knowing specialized softwares, which allows the information to be available to a large number of users.
