Enterprise Web GIS: Honolulu Board of Water Supply
Track: GIS Organization, Management and Implementation
Author(s): Lyann Okada, Scott Cattran

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply started building an enterprise GIS in 2001. The Web-based ArcIMS site, now known as HONU (Honolulu ONline Utilities), was originally created to serve GIS, Electronic Document Management System, and Customer Accounting System data more readily to users across the different departments of the agency. Since then, this enterprise application has been growing in size and now includes links to permitting, Microsoft Outlook, JD Edwards, and other decision support systems through a single easy-to-use interface. More than 350 users currently use HONU to help complete daily tasks across all nine departments. This presentation will show the HONU interface, its integration with other systems, and the methodology that was used to create success.
