Utilizing GIS to Integrate the Enterprise in Topeka, Kansas
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Author(s): Kyle Tjelmeland, Scott Cattran

The City of Topeka Public Works Department had endeavored over the last several years to implement various information systems to more efficiently manage the City's infrastructure and its maintenance. This included various computerized maintenance management systems, permitting, master addressing, document management and GIS. In 2004/2005 the City began a project to simplify and integrate each of these systems, centered around a Web-based, ArcGIS 9 Software-centric architecture, to create a single, integrated information management system. This presentation will focus on the approach taken and the eventual solutions that the project team chose to implement this improved and integrated architecture.
