Effectively Migrating Data from GIS Specialist to Environmental Scientist
Track: Environmental Management
Author(s): Scott McAvoy, Andrew Janocha

Environmental investigations and monitoring programs continue to evolve in both size and complexity at the governmental and industrial levels. The enormity of data that result from these endeavors often exceeds the capacity of conventional tools like reports and spreadsheets, thereby limiting its accessibility and usability. This paper will present the benefits of using a customized environmental GIS within the ArcGIS framework to migrate the flow of data and information from the GIS Specialist to the Environmental Scientist. The design of user-friendly and qualified interfaces to query, display, and export data is a key development in modern environmental management.
