Integration of GPS Wireless Internet Technology to GIS Database Builder

A database of natural resources baseline data was uploaded to a system integrating wireless technology, GPS satellite technology, internet map server and a spatial database engine. A wireless-based GPS-acquisition was integrated with data-transfer, spatial database management, and an Internet map server. The aims were to examine distributed GIS at depths that integrated the technology with Client/Server computing system, create a cross-platform of interoperable distributed GIS interacting with a Web server, and implement a data warehouse from internet GIS fundamentals. Innovative integrated data acquisition and formatting methodologies were developed. The system was tested on two ongoing projects, the Southern University Tree Inventory exercise and the Atchafalaya Flatlake Project. The whole project was accomplished via several components including wireless internet technology using Bluetooth, the Java platform (J2SE, J2EE, J2ME, J2SDK), and HTML codes. Finally, a data warehouse was created that allows viewing and distributing of spatial data through a Web server.
