Abstract
Hi-Res Multi-Spectral Mapping of an Urban Fugitive Dust Problem Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Robert Ball, David Groeneveld The Metropolitan Bakersfield area of California is within the San Joaquin air basin, a non-attainment area for PM10, and has experienced the worst PM10 violations recorded in this basin over the past decade. This effort mapped and ranked particulate emission sources to focus future control efforts. The method employed mapping emissive surfaces using Landsat TM data and then checking the accuracy of the mapping. Over the 400 square mile core area for this study, this will have minimum mappable units of about 1/5th of an acre.
