Abstract
Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map Production Track: Water Resources Author(s): Justin Graham, Jeff Albee Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) have been FEMA's standard form of flood hazard notification for many years. In order to take advantage of technological advancements, states are converting their FIRMS to digital format. Using a personal or enterprise geodatabase to house the feature classes and tables, one can produce a high quality Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) that fulfills FEMA specifications. The geodatabase integrates feature classes and tables, which makes your editing and attributing correspond with FEMA guidelines. Using current, more accurate data, DFIRMs can take us from the traditional FIRMs, which become outdated as quickly as they are produced, to a more precise way of determining flood hazard zones.
