GIS Solutions for Environmental Impact Statements
Track: Environmental Management
Author(s): Stephen Osiecki

Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) require integration of environmental and transportation design disciplines. Collecting, managing and disseminating data between disciplines and decision makers can be a difficult task. GIS provides a set of strategies and tools for leveraging, analyzing and sharing data. Esri's suite of software solutions has allowed us to collect, analyze, map, and share data. A major benefit of GIS is managing the enormous amount of traditional EIS/NEPA data. Managing data through GIS allows us to easily produce products for EIS documents, provide analysis and develop custom applications for decision making and evaluating recommended concepts. This presentation will demonstrate how Esri's GIS applications were used to manage and analyze data for EIS/NEPA projects, how data was shared across various disciplines while maintaining interoperability, and how GIS was used in the critical review process of recommended concepts and mitigation for EIS/NEPA projects.
