Abstract
An ArcGIS Application for Centralized Feature Collection and Production Monitoring Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management Author(s): Xinsheng (Kevin) Zhang, Rob Tubello Using ArcGIS, ArcSDE, Geodatabase, and ArcIMS technologies, EarthData developed a centralized feature collection and GIS data production processing application. This paper will describe the functionalities and operational uses of this tool within EarthData. Core functionalities such as real time topological integrity checks, centralized validation of project specifications, multi-user editing of topological features, seamless and centralized GIS datasets and an automatic workflow control and tracking system have resulted in a number of benefits to both users and clients, including a simplified production workflow, greater first-time-right delivery rates, more efficient project management, and the reduction of production cycle times and production cost. The application has also resulted in increased customer satisfaction by providing on demand project progress updates and improved interaction with project managers through the ability to review deliverables online and to provide client feedback during all production phases.
