Abstract
Enterprise GIS Solution for the Small Wonder Track: Transportation Author(s): Don Burris, Brian Smith The Delaware Department of Transportation has spent the last year designing, developing, and implementing a department-wide GIS intranet application. The objective of this discussion will be to explain the processes that DelDOT used to achieve its defined objects and deliver an application that is widely utilized throughout DelDOT. DelDOT used a defined process that detailed a core team to help mold the application into a series of attainable goals. The application then went through a design phase in which the core team worked with the development team to properly define the application's workflow and aesthetics. The design was then sent to the IT group within DelDOT for sign off before development began. Finally, the application was built, tested, and implemented with the core team being involved throughout the entire process. The discussion will also focus on understanding user requirements to define and implement quick "wins" to gain support for an enterprise-wide GIS.
