Using ArcIMS to Meet Increasing Organizational Mapping and Analysis Requests
Track: Ecology and Conservation
Author(s): Breece Robertson, Wetherbee Dorshow

A robust, Web-based interactive mapping and analysis system is a key component of The Trust for Public Land's (TPL) long-term strategy to meet increasing demand from both staff and community partners for geographic information products derived from the TPL "Greenprinting" process. Earth Analytic, Inc. (EAI), is responsible for the design, deployment and ongoing development of the TPL internet mapping project, under the guidance of TPL's National GIS Director. EAI is an authorized Esri business partner in Santa Fe, New Mexico, specializing in conservation-based GIS. TPL's internet mapping system is based on ArcIMS software and Latitude Geographics Group's Geocortex IMF viewer. This paper will briefly explore the rich functionality of existing TPL mapping Web sites and demonstrate how this investment in technology effectively leverages TPL's internal GIS capacity to support land conservation goals through the Greenprinting process.
