Abstract
Geocoding Customer Databases in ArcSDE and Oracle Track: Database Design, Automation, and Management Author(s): Brian Sisco, Zarani Barrow, Jake Needle This paper will describe the process of updating the customer locations database of Southern California Edison (SCE) Electric Company. The database contains the point locations and attribute records of more than 4.2 million SCE customers spread over a service territory of 50,000 square miles. Every month the database needs to be updated to reflect new customer locations and changes in existing account ownership and geocode new customer records. This paper will go through the methodology used to access non GIS corporate data and extract the necessary information to locate customers. The multiple datasets and the process of geocoding used will be outlined. We will detail the identification of monthly changes and the incorporation of these into the enterprise ArcSDE Oracle9i.
