Abstract
Hosting 3 Tier, Highly Available, Enterprise ArcIMS Apps with J2EE Track: Application Development Author(s): Brian Embley The State of New Jersey has developed a highly available and secure hosting environment for geospatial Web applications based on ArcIMS. This system was built to accommodate the State's 3-tier network architecture and provide hosting for multiple Java based applications. Security and uptime are the primary considerations in building this environment to host enterprise map services, a statewide metadata catalog (http://njgin.nj.gov) and applications for varied state agencies. A development and testing environment is also in place to allow multiple development teams to build and test custom applications. This paper will focus on the design of New Jersey's environment and will present the life cycle of a custom application from initial coding to production deployment.
