Mapping Temporal Crime Patterns through Animation
Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Author(s): Philip D. Mielke

Animated GIS data products can provide a useful and efficient solution for dissemination of temporal crime patterns. This paper will explore a methodology involving kernel density patterns and the arrangement of GIS layers within a web-based multimedia presentation. This methodology can be applied to various other industries of GIS and considered an efficent display framework for spatial analyses involving time.
