Corridor-Wide Transportation Management: Development of an LRS Based Network
Track: Transportation
Author(s): Yushuang Zhou, John Lewis, Julie Colby

This paper will present the development of an LRS-based transportation network that will support transportation planning and modeling activities throughout the I-95 Corridor Coalition, an alliance of transportation agencies, toll authorities, and related organizations stretching from Maine to Florida with affiliate members in Canada. A linear referencing system is being developed to provide the mechanism by which network data from many different sources of member states can be related to linear locations along the network. Member states' road inventory databases or transportation model networks are being related to populate the LRS-based coalition network with roadway characteristics, capacity, and operations data from each of the states' databases. The development of the corridor-wide network will provide the base for key decision and policy makers to address transportation management and operations issues of common interests.
