Applying GIS to Respond to the Nebraska Tornadoes
Track: Disaster Mangagement and Emergency Response

The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) used GIS to improve the response to the Nebraska Tornadoes this year. On the ground and in the air, NEMA quickly collected information related to storm spottings and overlaied this information with an existing database of critical infrastructure. The work done by NEMA assisted the Federal Emergency Management Agency focus their efforts on damage assessment.
