Environmental Management Geographical Information System for Offshore Areas
Track: Petroleum and Pipeline Transmission
Author(s): Alexandre Cabral, Marcus Silva

The oil exploitation and production activities provide relevant contribution to the economy. At the same time it promotes debates involving subjects such as environment and technology. In the last four years Brazil has received a large input of new concepts regarding the way to address the environment issues and its relation to the economic activities and the associated risks. In this context the amount of data produced to generate environmental impact reports has increased significantly. The same happened to the data collected to support the offshore operations. Hence, computer based tools to manage and analyze these new set of data, as well as to support the decision making process, became a real need. This paper will present the Environmental Management Geographical Information System--SIGGA, developed by the Oceansatpeg, based on ArcGIS architecture, conceived to provide the company and its customers with geographic based tools to integrate and analyze data.
