Abstract
City of Fairfield GIS Management Portal Implementation Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Shakeel Ajam, Charlie Crocker The health of a city's GIS depends on the ability to maintain spatial data and applications as well as provide services and standards to users. At the City of Fairfield, the GIS Management Portal consolidates GIS related applications, metadata, workflows, and standards into a single web-based interface, serving as a one-stop location for all GIS-related web applications, custom desktop applications, and scripts. The Portal is hosted by the Information Technology Division and is available to all City departments. Users can access enterprise GIS applications (e.g., Property Review and Property Notification) through the portal, as well as get the latest GIS news, technical information, and easy access to metadata and the staff responsible for managing the GIS, data, and IT infrastructure. By providing an environment for maintaining and distributing data, workflows, software, and personnel standards, the Portal directly supports collaboration and communication for the City's growing enterprise GIS.
