Using SAS Bridge for Esri: Data Analyses and Data Interpretation
Track: Water Resources
Author(s): Ifeyinwa Davis, Lorne Rothman

The U.S. EPA National Nutrient Criteria Program has a Web accessible National Nutrient Database (NUTDB). In 2000, EPA used the database to develop nutrient criteria recommendations for mostly Lakes, Reservoirs, Streams, and Rivers. The database has query and download tools for easy access to the nutrient data. Effective use of the NUTDB includes using the nutrient data in a map environment to build and discuss relationships. Geodatabases are used to create layers in ArcMap, before using SAS Enterprise Guide to carry out additional analysis and reporting. Functions looked at within a geographic location using the SAS Bridge for Esri will be discussed on how it can provide for specific analysis of variables for chemical, physical, and/or biological conditions. Spatial regression analysis will be explored on how to apply the results to predict water quality values. This will advance the use of predictive models using ArcMap and ArcCatalog.
