Tool Development for Data Mining, Summarization, and Integration
Track: Water Resources

The SJRWMD expanded upon the example set by the NWIS tool, which is available with the Arc Hydro toolset. Staff developed two tools to query and retrieve data from the District's tabular (Oracle) production database: the first for environmental (water quality, sediment, etc.) data and the second for daily NEXRAD precipitation data. For the environmental data, the tool operates from the HydroJunction-linked point feature class (Monitoring Point) in the Arc Hydro Geodatabase using the HydroCode field; the user specifies time period, matrix, and analyte(s). For the NEXRAD data, users specify area of interest and time period of interest. Results from either tool can be saved to a personal geodatabase and formatted for use in the Arc Hydro Time Series application. The Watershed Characterization Tool operates from the point of Arc Hydro watershed delineation and summarizes any GIS layer for the defined area.
