Abstract
Service Area Road Analyst (SARA) Extension Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Jon Strother The Service Area Road Analyst (SARA) extension was designed to help reduce search areas for analysts looking for mobile targets on a road network. These analysts required the ability to ingest FACC or DMAFF encoded shapefiles, input variable speeds for given road types, and create a time-ordered list of probable destinations in a new shapefile, and have multiple methods for inputing the point of origin, a simple (linear) user-interface, and a short turn-around time for results. SARA adds to the functionality in Network Analyst to find service areas for vehicles based on user defined parameters (maximum speeds for various road types). It also finds the closest facilities, optionally within the service area, based on a cost (in time). It then adds that time as an attribute in the destination's (facilities) point shapefile.
