A New Higher-Resolution Land-Cover Map for Maine
Track: Remote Sensing Imagery
Author(s): Michael Smith, Andrew Brenner, Andrew Lewis, Michael Palmer

Regional land-cover maps are important for many applications ranging from watershed management, forest management and urban planning to land policy. This presentation will show how federal and state agencies have worked together to create a land-cover classification using USGS's National Land Cover Datasets 2001, NOAA's Coastal Change Analysis Program and new 2004 5-m panchromatic SPOT imagery to create a 5-m impervious map and a spatially improved and more detailed classification system land-cover map for the state of Maine.

The presentation will show how this data is combined and how the output land cover appears and what it can be used for.
