Abstract
Relationship Between Mine and Geological Unit Using Data Mining Method Track: Mining and Geosciences Author(s): JongGyu Han In this paper, we present the results of extracted association rules between mine position and geological feature of South Korea using data mining analysis method. The geological units of 1:50K scale geological map database of South Korea are reclassified into 2,300 units by new geologic unit classification tree. After reclassification of geologic units, association rule extraction method, one of the data mining techniques, is applied to extract geological relationships of mines. The result shows that coal mines are related with 77.8 percent to sedimentary rock, specially sedimentary clastic rock. Also nonmetal mines show the relation 81.2 percent with sedimentary rock and metal mines are related 39.0 percent to metamorphic rock.
