Abstract
USGS National Map Vector Data Track: Spatial Data Infrastructure Author(s): Paul Wiese, Jerry Ornelas The USGS is implementing at the National Geospatial Technical Operations Centerfour vector data themes with national extent: hydrography, transportation, structures, and governmental units. The geodatabase-based design for these data themes supports capabilities for transactional updates, data lineage tracking, and extension of the base data as part of a seamless, integrated, and consistent national spatial database. The goals of the USGS and its partners are to continually update and synchronize this data between local, regional, and national data holdings in support of resource management and homeland security requirements.
