Lessons Learned by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities Creating Its Water/Wastewater GIS Database
Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater
Author(s): Robert Pearson, Ottie Chambers

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities is currently undertaking a project to convert all of its water and wastewater system infrastructure data into a GIS format. Along with the conversion, missing data elements are being collected in the field and populated together with converted data into an Esri geodatabase. This paper will explore lessons learned during this process and challenges faced managing data conversion, collection, and quality control vendor partners during this multiyear project.
