3D Visualization and Cost-Path Analysis of Archaeological Hopi Villages
Track: Archaeology
Author(s): Stephen Norris

The goal is to create a 3D visualization interpreting archaeological evidence of a prehistoric Hopi village. Data collected by Wesley Bernardini of the University of Redlands is used in conjunction with elevation data. A visual interpretation of a typical village can be displayed based on building ruins and foundations. A least-cost path/corridor analysis can be preformed using elevation data as well. This analysis assists in hypothesis testing of village relationships and interaction. The 3D visualization will assist in future analysis and eventually be used by the Hopi reservation in community education.
