This paper will first provide the results of an extensive program of performance measurements on the Esri-based Commercial Joint Mapping Toolkit (C/JMTK) and the ArcGIS Military Analyst with Military Overlay Editor (MOLE). These results include

. Low level tests comparing the speed and memory utilization of

- MOLE renderers vs. MCS renderers

- Esri objects vs. .NET GDI+ objects

. Latency tests for satellite networks

. MOLE symbol conformance with standards



This paper will also provide details on the implementation of common GIS Web services built on Esri products that will be provided as part of a service-oriented architecture for the new Battle Command Common Systems. Described will be

. Map, MapFeatures Services

. Analysis Services: proximity searches, route finders, geospatial alerts, etc.

. User-defined Symbology Service

- Supply symbols to users based on predefined preferences

- Support for MOLE, NTDS (Navy), and custom symbols such as SVG, 3D, etc.
