GIS-Supported Site Analysis and Sustainable Design
Track: Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Affairs
Author(s): Joseph Grubbs

GIS applications provide planners and landscape architects with a variety of tools for site analysis and sustainable design. This paper will highlight some of these tools and their application in a practical context. The paper will feature an overview of GIS-supported strategies for site analysis and design in an ArcGIS 9 environment. Case studies of development projects in Southwest Florida will be used to illustrate how GIS applications enable planners and landscape architects to move toward more sustainable patterns of development.
