North American Profile of ISO 19115: Capabilities and Content
Track: Metadata and Data Publishing
Author(s): Sharon Shin

Here at last! The North American Profile, NAP, ISO 19115 Geospatial Information- Metadata should be adopted at this time. Can the geospatial community really say the Profile is an improvement over the existing federal metadata standard? You can determine for yourself. The U.S. and Canadian geospatial standards organizations partnered to profile ISO 19115 and enlisted standards experts to modify ISO 19115 content to the perceived needs of the respective geospatial communities. The NAP content was then crafted into workbook-style to jump start profile implementation. Public comment was solicited from the larger geospatial community to assess and validate the workbook. Submitted comments were evaluated and the workbook content adjusted accordingly. This presentation focuses on the informational capabilities and content of the North American Profile and a call to the community to post NAP outreach materials. A question and answer session concludes the presentation.
