Author(s): Ali Roshannejad

Managing assets in various divisions in the Roads Department of the City of Calgary and the fact that there is a strong need for interdivisional interactions, triggered the need for an Enterprise model for the Asset Management system. Since GIS plays the main role in the asset management system and is responsible for managing assets' spatial data, the enterprise model need to be developed in GIS. This paper presents the approach of designing the enterprise data model and implementation of it in the Enterprise GeoDatabase. The paper also describes the approach of analyzing divisional requirements and the applied method to ensure the requirements are fulfilled. Paper concludes with number of recommendations for similar architectures in other businesses.
