Effective Use of ArcGIS for Petroleum Exploration and Production
Track: Petroleum
Author(s): Veer Surapaneni

Petroleum Exploration and Production requires extensive spatial data for analysis and decision support. Core Data includes Company Leases, Contracts, Right-of-Ways, Prospects, Well Locations and Well Production. Reference Data includes Survey, Culture, Imagery, and Competitor Leases. Supporting Data includes Contours, Seismic Survey Locations, Gathering Systems, Environmental, and Weather Forecasts. The sources, types, and volume of data complicate data management and data sharing, while leading to inefficient display, analysis, and plotting processes. An ArcGIS Demonstration will be presented covering example problems and solutions.

Examples include Land Analysis, Well Production, Environmental, and Weather Impact. In addition, the benefits of ArcGIS Training for the employees will be discussed.
