Abstract
 GIS and Document Management Integration Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Stephen Sherman Greensboro NC (population 230,000) has partnered with Perceptive Software to integrate our GIS with the City's enterprise-wide document management system. In doing so, Greensboro has implemented a solution for storing and retrieving spatially referenced documents such as engineering drawings, contracts, invoices and the like. An ArcMap based interface allows users to index and associate any type of scanned or electronically stored document to GIS features. A complimentary ArcIMS map service then allows users throughout the City to retrieve documents based on a selected GIS feature(s). This presentation will address the benefits of integrating GIS and document management at an enterprise-wide level, the underlying design of the system and plans for the future.
