Community Profile of Adelaide Metropolitan Area

The paper will present a community profile of Adelaide metropolitan area (South Australia) which depicts the population which lives in the area. It describes and explains social indicators, namely population, computer use, education, and economic status. The major source of data is Census 2001, conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The scope analysis area of the profile is Adelaide's Local Government Areas (LGA) which is covered by Adelaide Statistical Division (SD). Maps, graphs, and tables as analysis components in GIS for community characteristics and social patterns identification also attached. The purposes of the paper are to inform a local community of the socio-economic characteristics of people in that community, to help local and states governments in the formulation and evaluation of policies, resource document for government and non-government agencies.
