Spatial Data Standard for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE)
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Robert Austin

The official geospatial data standard for DoD Installations and Environment interests is the Spatial Data Standard for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE). The stewardship of the SDSFIE was moved from the CADD/GIS Technology Center to the U.S. Army Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) and a new vision was established. The SDSFIE will be: The single DoD spatial standard that supports common implementation and maximizes interoperability for Installations, Environmental and Civil Works Missions. The management of this effort was contracted to the Solutions and Technology for the Advancement and Refinement of the SDSFIE (STARS) Team, led by Northrop Grumman, and directed by TEC. Michael Baker Jr. Inc. has supported development of SDSFIE initiatives for over 10 years and is a primary subcontractor on the STARS Team. The purpose of this presentation is to update the geospatial community about both the short and long-term strategy for incorporating major revisions to the SDSFIE.
