Spatial Variability of Leaf Damage on Trees in Bogota-Colombia
Track: Ecology and Conservation
Author(s): July Aparicio, German Herreño

Currently the Botanical Garden in Bogota-Colombia Jose Celestino Mutis is carrying out the urban tree inventory and the obtained information from this project has been classified and processed with geostatistical techniques to determine the spatial variability of the regionalized variables of the most important signs and symptoms in the leaf damage on the urban trees. For this purpose we worked with the data of a zone in Bogota (Teusaquillo) with 56.648 trees in 1.421,03 hectares but focusing the analysis on the 10 most abundant species. As a tool the Geostatistical Analyst of ArcMap-ArcGis of Esri was used to establish the spatial models and the Kriging prediction analysis for the spatial interpolation of sanitary deficiencies. In summary using maps, the relations and dependencies of the variables were analyzed and we could determine some methodologies to improve the planning and controlling on the areas influenced by problems such as necrosis and withering.
