Abstract

Implementation of Portal Toolkit for NOAA’s Regional Collaboration Efforts
Track: Federal Enterprise Systems
Author(s): Kim Jenkins, Gabe Sataloff

NOAA’s regional collaboration efforts seek to identify and apply NOAA’s full range of capabilities, within and across regions, and to design the best, geographically specific solutions for customers. NOAA’s Southeast and Caribbean Regional Team (SECART) Data Explorer is an on-line data discovery and delivery system that integrates GIS data across NOAA to support SECART priorities. The SECART Data Explorer project uses Esri’s Portal Toolkit to provide users with the ability to search and preview data footprints, as well as a system for data download and delivery. The SECART Data Explorer is a pilot project sponsored by NOAA High Performance Computing and Communications that encourages exploration and development of projects that have the potential of being applied across NOAA. The presentation will highlight the data integration process, the development of standards for the portal, and the data distribution process.
