The Esri Developer Center (EDC) at Georgia Tech
Track: Education
Author(s): Lisa Jackson, Sivakumar Ramachandra

As part of the Esri Developer Center program (EDC), the Georgia Tech Center for GIS (CGIS) has developed a stronger more collaborative relationship with the College of Computing (COC) faculty and students that are developing Location Based Services for mobile devices. GIS courses are taught in the College of Architecture and there are no GIS courses taught in the COC so we've offered a series of training seminars and workshops to educate the student developers of the existing Esri software capabilities so their efforts will be focused on extending and not recreating existing functionality. The CGIS is also working to create the more detailed GIS data of the Tech campus that is needed for their LBS services to be published and used by the campus community. This presentation will show examples of student projects and share the successes and lessons learned from our first year as an EDC.
