New Vision for Collaborative Asset Management & Customer Service
Track: Public Works
Author(s): Dawn Siegel

The Collaborative Asset Management System (CAMS) is a new vision for providing customer service in the public works community of Oakland County, Michigan. CAMS is an innovative approach to cross-jurisdictional infrastructure management that is made possible by integrating the wealth of asset data generated and maintained by participating communities with the Oakland County managed data into a centralized, standardized data structure.

Leveraging Azteca CityWorks Server product, which incorporates ArcGIS Server 9.3, CAMS is intended to help mitigate long-term costs associated with the operations and maintenance of critical infrastructure (water, sewer, storm and roads) by allowing Oakland County and its local governments to proactively manage these assets. The centralized structure of CAMS will also help encourage collaboration and data sharing across communities and not just within them, resulting in both more efficient and more effective infrastructure management.
