Abstract

Using Multiple Databases to Market the Westfield’s Fiber Optic Lines
Track: Telecommunications and Location-Based Services

The City of Westfield currently has a 15 mile ring of dark optical fiber with unlimited capacity. We are one of only 12 cities in the state of Indiana that provide fiber optic available for commercial use. The fiber optic plant is used as an Economic Development tool to diversify the landscape in the City of Westfield, providing more Service Provider choices and competitive pricing. The fiber marketing coordinator needed phone contact information for commercial properties adjacent to the fiber ring. Using GIS, an interactive map was created using multiple databases including: Keystone Billing, E911 address points and Hamilton County parcels, to market and present this information to the City of Westfield’s Fiber Board.
