Species Delineation of Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Using AISA Hyperspectral Imagery
Track: Ocean, Coastal, and Marine Resources
Author(s): John Wood

Hyperspectral imagery was acquired of Redfish Bay, located within the Mission-Aransas National Estuary Research Reserve in the Texas Coastal Bend, as part of a collaborative project involving multiple institutions. The various bands of AISA imagery were individually segmented, and principal components determined for separating seagrass species. These principal bands were used to delineate individual and mixed species components of this complex bay system. This information will be used to determine demographic makeup of this vital habitat, as well as for monitoring changes in the seagrass communities.
