Developing Dynamic Decision Support Systems for Agricultural Research Stations
Track: Agriculture
Author(s): Wubishet Tadesse, Dawn Lemke

Modern agricultural research methods involve the use of fertilizers, inorganic and organic soil conditioners, and pesticides. Although the use of synthetic organic compounds has greatly increased agricultural production, there has also been an increased potential for the transport of these compounds into water. This work focused on developing a dynamic decision support system of Winfred Thomas Agricultural Research Station at Alabama A&M University using remote sensing and GIS to enable efficient and environmentally sound land-use planning. Such information is very useful in planning and implementing research projects being conducted as well as keeping historical data that will help in planning future experiment at the Research Station.
