Understanding the Value of an Address Using Geospatial Intelligence
Track: Insurance
Author(s): Howard Botts, Tom Jeffery

In November 2008, wildfires raged over 20,000 acres nearly destroying over 1,000 residences ranging in value from multimillion-dollar mansions to mobile homes. Insurers underwriting in the affected area could potentially have millions in claims losses that could have been avoided. For insurance companies understanding the value of a correct address and its geographical surroundings is imperative to sustaining profitable growth. This presentation focuses on how advanced parcel-level geocoding and Esri’s ArcGIS Server’s spatial analytics, mapping and data management capabilities combined with highly granular hazard data (wildfire, earthquake, coastal risk) and regulatory compliance data (premium tax and rating territories) deliver the locational insights that insurance enterprises need to support automated underwriting, compliance, and revenue generation.
