Integration of Land Records, Survey and GIS: Bahamas EMS
Track: Cadastral and Land Records
Author(s): David Horwood

The Bahamas Estate Management System (EMS) is a case study in the integration of land records information, scanned documents, survey data and GIS. EMS is based on ILS’s LRS (Land Records System) Framework and ILS’s MultiCadastre (Esri software based cadastral data management). EMS handles crown (government) grants, leases, licenses and compulsory acquisitions for the entire Bahamas archipelago.

Applications are scanned and lodged on intake and configured workflow guides the transaction throughout the government. At key points in the process, transactions are linked to appropriate parcels in the GIS. Where parcels do not exist, they are created via survey data and then linked to the transaction. This workshop walks through the entire business workflow with special emphasis on the integration points between the land records system and cadastral GIS.

This workshop is aimed at organizations requiring the seamless integration of land records, survey data and GIS within overall business workflow.
