The United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire(UNOCI) GIS Unit is engaged in electoral mapping of polling stations in line with its mandate to support electoral process. The data collected by electoral division of UNOCI is being mapped by GIS Unit at sub department level using Esri client and Server software. In addition, 75 large scale town maps are used to facilitate the electoral mapping with numerous polling stations. IKONOS images were used to extract main features. IKE GPS with platform of ArcPad is utilized for field data collection. ArcIMS will be used to publish maps on intranet. The work started May 2007 and 267 polling station maps for year 2000 election data are already completed. GIS Unit is currently updating these maps based on year 2008 electoral data. The result of this work will help effective completion of electoral process and will be shared within the UN community.
