Information Value and Valuation of Geographic Information in Large Organizations
Track: Logistics
Author(s): Charles Linville

Large organizations benefit from the use of a wide variety of available geographic or geo-referenceable information and information services. Despite these benefits, in many organizations there is constant pressure to keep information services costs low. Since many information-related costs are concentrated and easy to quantify, and the benefits may be diffuse and difficult to quantify, many organizations invest too little in geographic information services.

This presentation will cover the three possible ways of framing the argument to invest in GIS despite these difficulties.
