Abstract

Bringing to Bear New Tools to Fight Crime
Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Authors: Dominick Bellizzie

The Project Safe Neighborhoods Mapping and Analysis Program (PSNMAP) enables task forces and local police departments supported by the Middle Atlantic-Great Lakes Organized Crime Law Enforcement Network (MAGLOCLEN) to collect and archive a wealth of major crime data. Users from across the region can access reporting, analysis, and mapping tools by leveraging the Regional Information Sharing System (RISS) crime data warehouse through a single, highly secure Web interface.

PSNMAP primarily serves as a regional crime analysis and mapping system supporting regional law enforcement initiatives. Tools provide investigators with powerful querying and innovative reporting capabilities. PSNMAP also supports the capture and management of active gang boundaries in the region through simple data editing tools.

PSNMAP is funded and supported by the US Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania. PSNMAP is built with state of the art, cutting-edge technology, including Esri ArcGIS Online, Bing Maps, and Microsoft Silverlight.
